‘ELF’ releases first look images ahead of its London premiere

The show has launched its first set of rehearsal pictures, featuring newly confirmed cast member Rebecca Lock. Based on the 2003 William Ferrell movie, this musical adaptation with songs by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin tells the charming funny tale of a man who crawls as a baby into Santa’s bag, which leads to him being raised as an elf in the North Pole despite actually being a human!

As Mariah Carey begins to defrost and Halloween decorations give their way to the next holiday (except for those who couldn’t let go of their high school years as goths), the venues prepare to unwind the alluring whims of Christmas in their patrons’ fantasies. The Dominion Theatre is no exception for that matter, as upon the closure of Grease last week, the place will be turned into a winterland wonder carrying the magic and nostalgia of the 2003 Will Ferrell movie now to the stage. Whether you’ve been good or bad this year (let’s forget about last weekend), today the first present has been delivered and it’s ready to open, as a firts glimpse into the rehearsals of this musical extravaganza have been launched today.

Featuring songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and a book by Tony award winners by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, this family comedy tells the charming tale of Buddy, who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts as a baby and is transported back to the North Pole and raised as an elf. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities finally cause him to face the truth and realise he’ll never belong in the North Pole. But not everything is lost here, as with Santa’s permission, he will embark on a journey to New York to find his birth father, discover his true identity and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Directed by by Philip Wm. McKinley, the cast includes Simon Lipkin as Buddy, Rebecca Lock as Emily Hobbs, Georgina Castle as Jovie, Tom Chambers as Walter Hobbs, Kim Ismay as Debs, Nicholas Pound as Santa and Dermot Canavan as Store Manager. Produced by Temple Live Entertainmen, the creative team is completed by Tim Goodchild (set and costume design), with choreography by Liam Steel, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound by Gareth Owen, video design by Ian William Galloway, music direction by Alan Williams and wig and hair design by Richard Mawbey.
