First images of Laura Whitmore and Matt Willis in hit play ‘2:22’ released

The show’s extended run will feature an entirely new lead cast completed by Felix Scott and Tamsin Carroll. 3-time Olivier Award nominee, the play is a staggering tale about a newly bought house thought to be haunted. Currently playing until January next year, the US version will have its official premiere in Los Angeles next month, where it will play for a limited season.

Just as ghosts can’t die, so won’t some shows’ runs. At least for now that looks like the case of 2:22, a jaw-dropping thriller dealing with the supernatural and the chills and thrills awaiting in the afterlife. After concluding its first two limited seasons, award-winning writer Danny Robins’s shocking horror story has been haunting the very heart of London’s West End through its extended stay at the Criterion Theatre. Currently starring worldwide famous and acclaimed actor Tom Felton, the torch will be passed not only by him next week, as all of the lead cast will be replaced by a new one, featuring TV presenter Laura Whitmore as Jenny and musician, presenter and actor Matt Willis as Ben, as well as Felix Scott as Sam and Tamsin Carroll as Lauren.

“I’m so excited to be making my West End debut playing Jenny in the next production of 2:22″, says Whitmore. “Theatre has always been my first love and I can’t wait to get back on stage. I am a huge fan of the previous productions and delighted to be getting stuck in with rehearsals and working alongside such a hugely talented cast and team.” On his side, Matt Willis has commented: “I am beyond excited to be a part of this incredible show. I saw the production last year and absolutely loved it.  I can’t wait for people to come and watch!”.

Winner of the Whatsonstage Award for Best New Play and nominated for 3 Oliviers, 2:22 tells the nail-biting tale of Sam and Jenny, a marriage moving to a new house which Jenny believes to be inhabited by a ghost always materializing at the same time – 2:22 AM. A playful spook or a mere trick of the mind? That’s what the couple, along with their two friends, will find out later that night… Produced by Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David and Kater Gordon, the show will be soon bringing the scares at the other side of the ocean, as its US premiere will take place at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles where it will run from 29 October to 4 December 2022.
