John Kander’s and Fredd Ebb iconic musical will be returning to London by the end of the year, in a version that will also count on a top-of-the-line creative team. Produced by Ambassador Theatr Group and Underbelly, the show will allow audiences to enjoy this classic as never before, thanks to a reduced capacity of only up to 550 people.

Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome… to the reopening of London’s theatreland – and also one of the most iconic shows in musical theatre history! The Kit Kat Club is coming back to the West End, in a unique production that will allow audiences to enjoy this tale as “never before”, thanks to a reduced capacity of up to 550 viewers. Produced by Ambassador Theatre Group and Underbelly, Cabaret will premiere in November, with an impressive cast in the leading roles: Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Tony and Olivier award-winner Eddie Redmayne as The Emcee and BAFTA Nominee and British Independent Film Award winner Jessie Buckley as Sally Bowles.

“It’s such a privilege to have the opportunity to direct Cabaret, a show that has always been dear to my heart”, says director Rebecca Frecknall. “It’s thrilling to be able to approach this classic and important musical at a time when its themes and atmosphere feel so contemporary and resonant. I’m in awe of my incredible creative team who have come together to create a bold new production as well as a new ‘Kit Kat Club’, a bespoke home where we can truly embrace and unlock the world of Cabaret for a new audience”.

Based on the play by John Van Druten, the musical has a score by John Kander and lyrics by Fredd Ebb, with a repertoire which includes such iconic songs like Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Maybe This Time and Money. This production also features set and costume design by Tom Scutt (Constellations, King Charles III, Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as collaborations with Sam Smith, Christine and the Queens) and coreography by Julia Cheng (founder of the House of Absolute, Philharmonia Orchestra Artist in Residence, recipient of the runner-up prize for Hip Hop Dance futures, Resident Choreographer for the Royal Academy of Dance, Judge and mentor for BBC Young Dancer and Breakin’ Convention – the UK’s biggest Hip Hop Festival, apart from collaborations with London Fashion Week, Google and Dr Martens)
