Magicians Penn & Teller join the Mischief company to create a show full of surprises both for the audience and the people behind the curtain. Scheduled for december of this very year, the play will count on the collaboration of renowned Broadway producers Kevin McCollum and J J Abrams – in a project that represents the first Goes Wrong since the opening of the original one.

There’s nothing like being told that something goes wrong so that you instantly feel interested about it. That pathetic number from Got Talent, when a contestant makes a fool of herself in the most horrendous way; that viral video where a crazy man astonishes the crowd; that interview where a politican finds no answer… Human disgraces pleases you (us) (you BITC***), but it’s okay – so do theatre authors. And Mischief never disappoints its followers, so their next production will be set in the worst place for a performance not to work as rehearsed: a magic show.

After announcing their first play at the Vaudeville Theatre, where the company will stay until next year’s summer, Mischief has already announced their second project, Magic Goes Wrong, a night filled with surprises for the audience… as well as for the ones behind the curtain! Written by Pen Jillete, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, illusionists Pen & Teller have joined the creative team – designing several tricks that will be in the hands of pretty clumsy conjurers. And although the characters have organised the event to raise funds for charity, accidents will soon be out of control… and so will the money they’ll need to collect!

‘When our own magic has gone wrong, we were miserable, but when it’s somebody else, it’s hilarious’, says Teller. ‘So this seems like the perfect project for Mischief and us. We’re huge fans of theirs, so collaborating with them was a privilege and an astonishment. Any idea we’d pitch them, right on the spot, they’d turn it around and make us double over laughing. We’re very proud of the results and hope
you enjoy the show.’

The play, whose cast will be confirmed soon, will also include in its team renowned Broadway producers Kevin McCollum and J.J. Abrams. ‘I am a nearly life-long fan of Penn & Teller and working with the Mischief Theatre Company has been pure joy.’, claims Abrams. ‘ I expect all that to change with this new production.’ On the other hand, Henry Lewis, the company’s director, has promised lots of surprises for this new project. ‘The next Goes Wrong show has been a long time coming’, he recalls. ‘So we can’t wait for audiences to join the original Mischief company at the Vaudeville’.

Magic Goes Wrong will be played at the Vaudeville Theatre from December 14th. Performances will take place from Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays also at 2 p.m.; and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets, available from 25 pounds, can be purchased at the Mischief official site and the venue’s webpage.
